Now, don’t laugh: the game title is legitimate, it’s not a typo. Things that draw a gamer to a particular video game usually include an expansive marketing, an excellent game trailer, or, if the game is within a series, a good track record. However, another way to attract gamers is to have a weird and amusing game title. Don’t Starve is one of those games. Again, that’s not a typo. The game title is DON’T STARVE, and its gameplay will guarantee you won’t be having smiling faces anytime soon. Don’t Starve is an action-adventure game with added elements of the survival and roguelike genre that was developed by Klei Entertainment for the Microsoft Windows, OS X, and Linux platforms. The game’s story is not really well-developed, so don’t expect to be amazed when playing the Adventure Mode of the game; Don’t Starve sells itself with its addicting and challenging gameplay, so getting a gamekey for it won’t be a waste of time and money.

Don’t Starve gives players control to the protagonist, Wilson, as he is placed in a world with randomly generated levels and must survive for as long as possible. The task seems simple enough, but there are tons of things (or enemies) in the game that will keep the player from doing it. As the game title suggests, players must keep Wilson from starving to death, they must always keep track of the Hunger meter and must feed him food in order to prevent the Health meter from decreasing and ultimately lead to his death. Players can explore the game map in search for food and other items to help Wilson in his survival while simultaneously avoiding murderous enemies. And because of the roguelike element added to the game, if Wilson dies then it’s a permanent death and, thus, the game is over: no checkpoints and the like. Not smiling now, aren’t we? Give Don’t Starve a try and you’ll be guaranteed a fun and frustrating game that will keep you busy for more than just a weekend!
