Game cover Homefront The Revolution

Homefront: The Revolution is an upcoming sequel to 2011’s Homefront and is currently in development by Dambuster Studios for the Microsoft Windows, OS X, Linux, Sony PlayStation 4, and Microsoft Xbox One platforms. The game is due for release in 2016, but the multiplayer beta version of the game will be launched in late 2015 for the Xbox One which will, presumably, help the developers in gauging the reception of players and critics to the current state of the game. Homefront: The Revolution, like its predecessor, has a similar gameplay style to most games in the first-person shooter genre. Players control a character in a first-person perspective as they progress through the game’s story by accomplishing numerous objectives while having access to different kinds of firearms. The controls of Homefront: The Revolution also figures to be similar to most first-person shooter games, requiring minimal adjustment from veteran players of the genre.

Homefront: The Revolution separates itself from the more popular first-person shooter games (Battlefield series, Call of Duty series) with its plot. Most first-person shooter games that portray Americans as the protagonists have them carrying out missions around the world or are involved in an intercontinental warfare. Homefront: The Revolution, however, places the Americans in a different situation as the invaded and oppressed side. As the game title depicts, players control the main character, Ethan Brady, as he joins the resistance to free the state of Philadelphia from the clutches of the Greater Korean Republic (a fictional joining of North and South Korea). With the United States Army in disarray following the events of the previous game, it is up to the player to lead the group of resistance fighters to fight for freedom.
