South Park: The Stick of Truth is a 2014 single-player role-playing game (RPG) based on the popular adult animated show. Yes, THAT not-safe-for-kids comedy that is laced with profanities in almost every episode. The game was developed by Obsidian Entertainment together with South Park Digital Studios and was released for the Microsoft Windows, Sony PlayStation 3, and Microsoft Xbox 360 platforms to a general positive reception, even with all the censored content. The game was published by Ubisoft, after the original publisher went bankrupt, and follows the fantastical adventures of The New Kid (nicknamed “Douchebag” in the game) in the titular icy Colorado town where he is acquainted with notable characters from the animated show like Cartman, Stan, and Kyle.

Don’t be fooled by the game’s source material, which it keeps faithfully intact; South Park: The Stick of Truth is actually a well-developed role-playing game that features many of the genre’s staple elements. The player will be given the choice to select their character class at the beginning of the game, which even includes a “Jew” class that specializes in both melee and ranged attacks. Equipment in the game, however, is not limited to a particular class only like other role-playing games. For example, players can outfit a Thief class into a warrior type that can dish out heavy damage similar to a Fighter class. Although each class has their own unique abilities, the loose equipment system allows the players to have more diversity to their character. Players progress through the humorous story of South Park: The Stick of Truth by completing missions or quests. The magic system in the game is also a bit weird, to say the least, and one that players may find, uh, gassy.
